I am a very active 44 year old woman. Well, I used to be, I have no energy at all!I went to an endo last week for the very first time.  I think I need an second opinion.
blood calcium 11.6
urine calcium 388.7 (24 hour)
TSH 2.225
T4, T3 and  PHT all are in the normal range.
I am so frustrated, all I read about says my parathyroid needs to be removed.  My doctor is not concerned. Am I over reacting? help!

The PTH is likely 'inappropriately normal' - esp if the level is >40 (assuming the usual range of 10-65).  This sounds like primary hyperparathyroidism, which is treated surgically.

All your numbers are slightly elevated including your TSH which should be around 1. Have them check for antibodies (TPO) to see if you have an autoimmune thyroid disease - Hashimotos Thyroditis. Check your T4, T3, FreeT4, FreeT3. Do you eat a calcium rich diet? The parathyroid should not be removed unless it has a tumor or cancerous cells...
As far as being tired - I wonder how is your life style? Hashimotos - if that is the case - can make you very tired and having low energy. What about investigtating the symtomps of Fibromalagia (fibromyalgia) and Chronic Fatigue syndrome? What about hormonal inbalances - menapause? How is the stress level in your life? You might want to further investigate with blood work. Since your TSH is higher than 2 you might be hypothyroid - or beginning to be. Further checking your thyroid will give you extra answers. Basically you could possibly benefit from a low dose of thyroid hormone if you find a doctor who is willing to prescribe it - since most believe that up to 5.5 it is OK (as the lab range says) and ignore patient symptoms or listening to them. I am curious what the DR will anwer to your question. Good luck!!!!!

Hi Lisa,

If your doctor has not ordered a PTH (Parathyroid blood test) on you ask for this.  If this is high and your calcium is high, you very well may have  a parathyroid tumor.  Go to parathyroid.com and read up on this.  Elevated calcium levels can produce the symptoms you are describiing and more. Good Luck to you.

My PHT was 28, the doctor said that is in the normal range.  I am very confused at this point. Thank you for your suggestions!
