Hi, I agree with Christine, it is impossible to diagnose someone with having a goiter and say that they do not have a thyroid problem, I have never heard such a thing. A goiter is an enlarged thyroid, which in itself shows that you have a problem with your thyroid. Get your anti-bodies test done to determine if maybe you have a thyroid auto immune disease. That is a destruction of the thyroid, and is usually the cause of goiters and nodules, just as Christine has stated. Often people with Hashimoto's have normal TSH's and are often told by doctors that they are fine, but we know how we feel, the antibody test will put an end to this and you will feel better once you start treatment. I went to my primary yesterday and he told me that he got the results of my tests from my Endo (who is not very helpful). The test show that all of my TSH levels are normal and that he also did a test to check to see if my pituatary glands are working ok and they are also fine. So basically I am in a wait and see mode again but atleast my primary is trying to help and he said that even though all my tests show nothing now he still thinks that something was wrong to cause the goiter and we would have to run more tests.
