Complex cyst...

I was recently diagnose with a multinodular goiter on the left lobe of my thyroid all measuring very small(less than 1cm) and a complex cystic lesion measuring up to 2cm on the right lobe... my question is, what is the difference between a complex cyst and a complex cystic lesion? Is there any?

Cysts are usually complex - ie, solid and liquid components.  There is no difference between a cyst and a cystic lesion.  Would FNA biopsy the right complex cyst under ultrasound guidance to target the solid component.

I have been doing a lot of research and to tell you the truth I don't think it is making me feel any better! What are the chances that a complex cystic lesion could be cancerous? I have read that if the complex cyst is solo then you are at an increased risk of it being cancerous, opposed to if you have other cysts on the thyroid. I have an appt. next week to have a FNA with and endo. but I am freaking out in the mean time. Thanks for any advide/info have given! :)

Solo nodule/cyst vs multi-nodule/cyst = same risk cancer for that patient.
Complex cysts are about 3% risk cancer - but still need FNA to be confident you are in the 97% group.

I am so sorry to keep bugging you, I have one more question...
The main reason I went to see my doctor was due to a sudden appearance of a small knot in the front of my neck... it is palpable and I am sure I would have noticed it before which leads me to believe it "suddenly" appeared. My question for you is, what does the sudden appearance of a palpable nodule indicate, if anything? The US showed this was the complex cystic lesion measuring 1.5 x 2.2 x 1.1cm.   THANK YOU!
