Feeling very emotionless and flat

Feeling very emotionless and flat

Is it possible that Hashi's can make you feel very emotionless?  I don't think I am at an optimal level yet, after being treated for only about  3 months.  I seem to get very anxious and feeling down, especially when my cycle nears.  My Synthroid has only been increased 1 time since May.  I have an appt. in a couple of weeks after not having seen him since I was diagnosed.  Still I feel very emotionless most times and at times I could cry if the wind blows the wrong way.  I feel this way about a week and a half to two weeks out of the month.  I have heard and read that Hashi's can do many things to your mind, but am not sure if this one of them.

Thank you.

Thyroid imbalance can cause emotional imbalance -- regarding the HASHI -- the treatment is to treat the hypothyroidism -- ie, get the TSH around 1.0.

Also take a multivitamin, consider one with 200mcg of selenium and good B-vitamin components.

Regular exercise and weight maintenance are also important.

Treating only the TSH result will send you on a wild goose chase.  TSH is minimally useful.  From a professional MT with 30 years' experience in lab testing, read this:

Historical evidence and a significant amount of medical, peer-reviewed documentation supports what Elaine Moore states.  Below are recommended thyroid tests.  Though TSH is included, it should not be the "one" to judge anything by.  No single test can be used to adequately assess thyroid or other hormone activity and effects.  Comparisons are necessary because of interdependencies.  Individual circumstances may dictate the necessity for additional tests.

It's good that you aren't on anything else.  Depression and anxiety can definitely be caused by Hashi's. I have it too.  The good news is that it will get WAY better soon.  Just be patient. It can take several months on the correct level of meds to see a difference. If you're still not feeling good after that, consider changing to a T3/T4 combo (like Synthroid + Cytomel or Armour Thyroid).  Sometimes adding some more T3 is all it takes to bring your moods under control and get rid of the anxiety.  Good luck!

Thanks so much for the reassuring words.  Although I know there are many people feeling the effects of Hypo,(unfortunately), I still feel very alone with it at times.  I had always been, what I thought was, healthy until this January, so it is very difficult for me to see the light at the end of the tunnel.  I was used to being able to go,go,go and do,do,do at any time.  Now I just think about getting home from work to rest or sleep.  So thanks again.

The doctor is right.  Get yourself  good vitamins choose ones that won't cause you to run to the fridge as most b's do. Make sure ther is b6 and b12 at good rates. Also add an antioxidant and high vitamin C but if possible the berries, raspberry and blueberry. Sometimes orange, lemon, strawberry irritate the throat. Raspbery is  an antiflammatory for the throat. Also a liver cleanse can help tremendously. Keep busy too. I find with me it helps keep the hashi/hypo demons away.  It takes awhile for all your meds to work and they play havoc sometimes too. Be positive if you can as we are all in the same boat and trying to swim. Some days are good some are bad.  Live in the moment. hugs rusalka

Oops! forgot to add. Magnesium before sleeping. Even if you do not sleep well as most of us don't it relaxes you so that you feel you have rested anyway. good luck!
