Hypothyroid and Pheochromocytoma Connection?

I was diagnosed with hypothyroid about a year ago and currently am going through the narrowing down proceedure for Pheochromocytoma (textbook symptoms of BP fluctuating between 240/160 and 130/80 throughout the day {despite BP meds}, sinus rythym tachycardia for no reason {confirmed on 30 day monitor @ 130-160}, heat intollerance and flushing, etc)

I have found through some searching that there is a connection between hyperthyriod and pheochromocytoma, but have seen nothing on hypo.  I am taking 50mcg synthroid a day and levels are good, so it is not over medicating on that point.

Synthroid/hypothyroid is not related to pheo.  Too much thyroid hormone can cause the same symptoms as pheo though.

Pheo is fortunately rare but you should be tested -- most commonly this involves a 24 hour urine collection for metanephrines and catecholamines.
