Multinodular goiter

All started with pain in the neck on the R side. Cyclical filling of tightness in my neck  just like wearing a tight turtleneck, irritability, alopecia, brain fog, prespiration, and dyshagia. I have 3 nodules biggest one is 1cm. Recent biopsy showed atypical cells and follicular neoplasm can not be excluded. TSH was 4.17 so endocrinologyst placed me on Levoxyl .25mg. Surgent suggested surgery. Which I fill is nessesary. I'm 42 and this has been going ON and OFF for 2 years because doctors beleived that I should not be symptomatic with Thyroid nodules. So they send me home with Nexium, Allergy pills , nerve supression meds, etc.
I'm going to HUP next week. What do you think is going ON? Of course I'm scared of Cancer and waking up and hearing this is malignant Ca.

HUP is a good move (I assume you mean U of Penn) -- they may repeat the FNA as the "atypical cells" on average, if used correctly, only carries a 5-10% chance of malignancy.  However the pressure symptoms may be more of a compelling reason for surgery.  Treating the TSH of 4.17 is appropriate in this setting.

Thank you for your response. I agree, althought my symptoms subsied after small dose of Levoxyl I still get tigtness in my neck if I anticipate stress in my office only.
I just heard it runs in my family. My aunt had same symptoms and removed hers 4 years ago. Results benign. My grandmom had multinodular goiter. Results unknown it was during the war.
