T3

I may end up having something like chronic fatigue syndrome,  or some unknown reason for being exhausted all the time.  Very common, I know.   I have also had a lot of heart palpitations.   Since it began of course a thyroid eval and spot cortisol.  was part of the workup.   And it's all been checked twice.     But I've noticed that  my TSH and T4 is always checked, but never the T3.    Can the T3 or anything else that you know of be abnormal  when the TSH and T4 are normal?  Would there ever be a reason to check T3 with normal T4?     Is spot cortisol generally acceptable or do I need a morning level?

If the TSH and T4 are normal there is very little chance of a thyroid dysfunction problem.
Spot cortisols are non-specific.  AM blood cortisol would be a better screen.

Thanks.   Real quick question - can you think of any other endo tests for chronic fatigue?

I had chronic fatigue diagnosis in my mid 20's, two months off work resting and then I was fine. it was an extreme and scary time but I got through it, was lucky my boyfriend at the time took care of me. now aged 42 I have similar symptoms but have been diagnosed with sub clinical hypothyroidism which, it turns out, runs in the famliy. Thyroid tests back then showed nothing but I can't help feeling the two incidences seem to be connected. it's so scary not knowing what's causing symptoms, wishing you well Citizen T.
