syncope and hypothyroid

I'm 29 years old  5'3'' and 140 lbs. My symptoms are joint pain in my knees, hair loss, constipation, depression, inability to lose weight.I also have a history of fainting spells, which increased during my pregnancy. My last pregnancy was six years ago and I've fainted since then, as well. I was told then it was hypoglycemia. I work out five times a week and wont lose a pound. I'm also a smoker (for ten years, off and on)and drink soy milk as opposed to cows milk.I fainted two days ago, hit my head very hard and went to the ER. My question is: What if they test my thyroid and thats not the problem? I have most of the classic symptoms, is the thyroid often overlooked? What else could it be when theres normal kidney, liver, heart and lung function?

Certainly testing the thyroid is helpful.  But this is more likely hypoglycemia -- so eat small, frequent meals and continue to exercise as you are.  Also, consider evaluation for depression if necessary.  Less likely would be vaso-depressor syncope -- a cardiologist can diagnose this.
