My grandmother was diagnosed with Hurtle Cell thyroid cancer, and had surgery in November to remove all of her thyroid. They did her radiation (the strongest they could give her, it was a very high dose) in January, and her PET scan came back clear. Of course she had problems with her voice at first, but it came back very well.
However, lately, she's starting to have the same symptoms she had before she was diagnosed - which had gone away after surgery. She's having trouble swallowing, she's getting spasms in her neck again, and she's starting to have problems with her voice again.
Is it possible that they missed some tissue and that there are tumors coming back?
