And I just read about one can take magnesium with thyroid meds in the
morning. I assumed that thyroid meds can not be taken along with any
other supplements. Any ideas?
I take all my vitamins at night. Usually after dinner or before going to bed.
I've had no ill effects from taking them at this time.
I then take my thyroxin in the morning.
My family practice doc put me on prenatal vitamins before we discovered the whole Hashi thing, and when we knew my D was low. Those vitamins made me terribly sick. I remembered getting sick on prenatals when I was trying to get pregnant. My doctor told me to take 1/2 pill in the morning and 1/2 at night. Some women can't handle all of that iron. Then, gradually I weened myself into taking the entire pill during the morning.
Hi there. You sound like me! I take 15 tablets a day. 5 being calcium! I take my thyroxine when I wake up. I take my cholesterol tablet right after breakfast. If I don't eat anything before hand I feel very nauseous. I take two calcium tablets as well at that time. Couple of hours later I take the iron supplement, which is a liquid, in some juice, as a morning break drink. The rest are taken when I can fit them in! LOL!
Probably for you, taking the iron when you take your fish oil will work. These don't interact. Of course, you can't take calcium for several hours, but by then it is probably your dinner time and safe to take them.
You are right about the night time absorption. It is not a good idea to eat either then go straight to bed. The body needs to sleep not use energy for digesting.
I don't think you should have any problems taking the iron at noon.
Take it from me, I am a severe anemic so I have experimented throughout at least 25 years of taking all sorts of iron supplements!
Cheers!
I take Cranberry capsule (for UTI's), I take a Calcium/D Vitamin and a mega B plus vitamin...none of which contain iron or iodine.
I have no problems with any of them taking them at night and have done so for 12 months now.
I sleep like a baby as soon as my head hits the pillow too.
I find if I take the Calcium/D during the day, I end up with constipation.
Consistancy is the key and also not to take Calcium within 4 hours of Thyroxin.
I did have the same problem as you, being sick with some vitamins. I didn't have idea about that. Now from your experience, I think it could be asorption problem.

Why do you take supplements at nights? IMHO, Evening is not
fit for taking supplements for the stomache and the body are at rest.

Yeah! iron in liquid form with juice is good! maybe better than hard tablets! and you can drink it like the soft drinks. Good idea! :)
