Hello. My name is Bill, and I have thyroidaphobia. (*Wave*)
LOL!!
Hey, Chrystal, Tisatenn2005, If your TSH came back at 3.33, relax a little bit. That's not so bad. The lab range for TSH varies, and the high limit is somewhere between 3.0 and 5.5. Your TSH is a little high, but it goes up and down and maybe you are at a high point for some reason.
It should be 2.0 or less, but a retest may show it drops a little because of lab error the first time, or maybe you've been really sick.
You had more bloodwork done on your thyroid?
It will probably show your Free T4 a little low, but actually right in the middle of the lab range.
The doctor may have ordered antibody tests to see if you have any thyroid antibodies.
It might be transient thyroiditis, which is temporary, or nothing, or an auto-immune condition. You probably will not be put on medication. But you may.
Hi all,
I am new and I wanted to say hi. Pardon my spelling!! LOL... I am from Utah like the Utahmomma. I am having a partial throidectomy May 5th. Lil nervous!!! This seems like a great place to be and many of you have been there done that, I will post the results of my test so far later on.

The FNA did not hurt course I did not know he wanted to do it that day in the office, Three sticks and it was over. I am just not happy with them being in my neck seems like if they are not suposed to be there get em out! GRRR.

Hello. I am new to the community. My name is Sally. I just had my thyroid removed in Dec. and am now hypo. i am having a really, really hard time with everything and I was not prepared for all of this. I have had horrible symtoms since my surgery and I am losing it!! You all have helped me so much already!!
I'm just starting this thyriod journey. I've been having problems with thyroid symptoms for about two years and finally put it together that my thyroid could be the issue. I've been researching it non-stop and stumbled upon this website—which by far is the best one out there for reliable information because I am currently untreated, I need something to help me cope with my symptoms.
I'm subclinical hypo, and just found this out in May '09. My GP won't treat me at all yet since my TSH is only a 4.89 and my FT4 was 1.33 (within the normal range). What is not normal are my slew of symptoms. I think I have every hypo symptom there is, including diminshed reflex response. I'm absolutely zapped. Additionally my right side of my neck is swollen 90% of the time.
My maternal grandmother was diagnosed with Hashimoto's in her early 30's and subsequently was hypo. She ended up having nodules which were really cancer. She has since had a TT. Upon talking with her she said "get thyself to an endocrinologist ASAP!" because back when she had issues her GP screwed around for a long time before finding her cancer. Anyways, I've booked myself an appoitment to see my grandma's endo...but it's not until July 20th. I'm nervous, scared, and hanging on by threads! But I'm elated to be getting real help with fixing my body. It's been haywire for too long!
Hi! I am Laura, I am a full time Mom of 4 beautiful babies ages 7-20, part time High School Instructional Aide and I run a Custom Bake Shop out of my home, for fun and $$!
I am 6 days post-op from a right-thyroidectomy due to a 2.0 cm hurthle cell neoplasm which we will hopefully know what it is on Fri. We found it because I had a 6 week cough and sore throat that wouldn't go away after 2 courses of anti-biotics, (no cold and no other symptoms) the nurse prac. felt the bump. This forum has been nothing short of a LIFESAVER! You are all wonderful and kind and a wealth of information! Many hugs and love to all of you, and thanks for being here!!! Much love...Laura
i posted in another thread to introduce myself, so excuse my redundancy!
i'm in my late 20's and was diagnosed with graves disease recently. after a lot of thinking, talking with my fiance, researching, and talking more i opted for RAI and am about 1 week post treatment. this is the first place that i've found that is accepting of all treatment options and i feel welcome even though i just got started.
i'm alternately at peace with my decision and terrified of what my body is going through and what's to come. i work in public health and have been a fitness professional for about 8 years and the symptoms i've had have really gotten in the way of life. i can't run, it's hard to do activities i love, i get brian fog really bad, and oh the anxiety.
i'm just so happy to find a group of people who understand. thanks for being so welcoming!
I'm new to this community. Sept 10th had a TT due to massive goiter on left side (size of a tangerine) and some nodules on the right. Previous FNA negitive. Good news is pathology report came back no cancer. So now, 1 week post op and wondering if the Synthroid is working as it should. I get more tired than usual. I get cold and hot at the same time. I'm fearful of gaining weight so I bought a good scale to weigh daily.... Glad I found this site to get insite from actual people who've experienced it, not just from the Dr.
HI and WELCOME .. you may want to repost the ? part in the forum in a new thread and get lots of answers! So many of us may be able to give you some thoughts. I had a partial almost 3 yrs ago.

hi everyone! I'm 22 and was finally diagnosed and put on synthroid...turns out my old doc never spotted it in all the blood work over the past four years. You all seem like wonderful people and I'm glad to have the support from you in addition to the partnership with my doctor and PA.
