Hi, I just got my thyroid test back and it shows TSHPituitary and tsh Tsh 32.64, and T4T4 test 0.47 the number that scares me or makes me think that maybe the test isn't correctCorrect (new formula) is my TSHPituitary and tsh Tsh number why is this so out of wack from the range which shows it's suppose to be 0.34-4.82?
Can you help me explain what could be causing this?
TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone) is a pituitary hormone. It's what your pituitary produces when it wants your thyroid to put out hormones. If your thyroid is underperforming (which yours is with an FT4 of 0.47), the pituitary keeps "calling", trying to get the thyroid to produce. TSHPituitary and tsh Tsh of 32.64 is high, but lots of people are much higher when they are diagnosed (mine was 67, some are in the hundreds). Your T4T4 test is low enough that I wouldn't question the accuracy of the TSH test. You might want to get a Free T3 test as well as the T4. However, the TSH and T4 numbers you give are a classic hypothyroid presentation.
