24 hr. adrenal saliva test

One of my doctors just ordered a 24 hr. adrenal saliva test (paying out of pocket, though).  She wasn't very clear if vitamins, meds, or supplements would have an effect on testing.  Do I stop taking them for the day?  None of them are life and death serious meds/supplements, so it's not a big deal.  I just didn't know if they could possibly alter results.  Also, I have a hard time resisting napping and didn't know if I should push myself through the day sans nap to get an accurate result.  Could napping effect cortisol measurements?

Hello, just curious if you got ur test results back and what they were like. I am doing a 24 hr salia test today for my adrenals, and I was wondering the same thing about napping. I work some days and can't nap, but on my days off I can't get through without one!!

I know...it is frustrating.  The process of elimination can be excruciating.  24-hour saliva test is supposed to be best for adrenals, so you'll know more after this.  Good luck with it.

Thanks!  Overcomplicating things is my specialty;). Just frustrated when tests keep coming back "normal", but obviously something's wrong.

Ask your doctor if you're not sure what you should or shouldn't take.

I think if you want a test to accurately reflect what it's supposed to, you do what you'd normally do.  If you nap when you feel like napping, nap.

Don't overcomplicate this...
