4 years of problems.. could it be a thyroid?

4 years ago:
I found myself freaking out and I didn't know why.  I thought maybe I had HIV.  I had about 4 - HIV tests until I believed I didn't have it.  What I did have was weight loss, lump in my throat, a couple weird skin deals, Anxiety etc.  My doctors said, you just have anxiety and wanted me to go on Zanex or whatever (Which I did for a week, not my thing.)

3 years ago:
I now was having stomach issues, I had weird looking stools and lots of the runs.  I now thought I had colon cancer or something.  Went in had an upper and lower endo and everything checked out.  I did have a hiatal hernia and an ulcer.  This stayed with me and is still with me to some degree.  My joints were popping in my arms and I had some deep bone pain in my arms.  I couldn't figure out what was going on.  After a while the joint popping and pain resolved to some degree but I did throw out my back a couple times.  Weight jumped up to 214 from 193.

last year:  Found out my daughter has Celiac so we all went gluten free.  Fixed the runs issue but still not normal stools.  Heart palputations started along with frequent infections, chronic sinus infections and my skellaton seeming to change a little.  I ended up in the ER with crazy blood pressure and a headache.  I thought I was having a stroke.  My weight had dropped to 183 but I attributed that the lack of gluten in my diet and my working out.  I was starting to have stomach issues a little and sleeping problems.

This year:  Adams apple off centered, my spine is really wacked out and I have joint and bone pains.  My urine is also foamy.  I can see it has lots of Calcium in it.  My blood calcium was normal when they tested it a few weeks ago.  I had it tested 3 times for protein and it all came back negative.  I've also got tested for Lieukemia, RA, and had a couple CBC all of which came back neg or normal.  I can feel a ting in my vocal cords, I'm urinating frequently, I can't sleep at all, well, I can't stay asleep.  My eyes feel like they are getting chateracts.  My mood swings suck, my mind is on high speed.  My doctors said it's axiety but I think it's more than that. I picked up small twitches from time to time and my hands are a little shaky a little.  (Off and on)  I had a thyroid function test and it came back at .7 on a scale of .5 - 5.   I think maybe my thyroid or parathyroid?  Sometimes it feels hard to swallow or breath.  I can almost pin point it just above my collar bone but I cant tell if it's bone inflammation causing it. I'm sick of being told it's my anxiety, I know I have anxiety but I think it's a symptom, not a core.   I'm going to a hematologist on the 20th. Any thoughts?

I would like to just supplement what spingirl posted.  Make sure that the doctor tests for the actual, biologically active thyroid hormones, which are free T3 and free T4 (FT3 and FT4, not total T3 and total T4).  If the doctor resists, just insist on it and don't take no for an answer.  You are the customer.
The tests for totals are somewhat obsolete and don't really tell what you want to know.  The FT3 and FT4 show the thyroid hormone that is not bound up with protein molecules, thus they are free, and active in regulating metabolism and many other body functions.  In addition to the TPO ab test, I would also suggest testing for TG ab and TSI.  These three tests are used to evaluate for Hashimoto's and Grave's Diseases.

I am NO expert but......I have had many similar symptoms as you have had over the past couple of years. In fact, I was misdiagnosed as Celiac (due to all my tummy and stool issues), then psoriasis (due to horrible rashes) and RA (due to joint pain).  Well, on a whim my 3rd doc, an allergist ordered every blood test known to man and voila! Hyperthyroid = TSH .006). And subsequent T3 and T4 really high too. I would ask your GP to request the full blood work for hyper (T3, T4, TSH, TPO) since getting into an Endo can take months (took me 4 mos).  I am now on meds but my heart races like I have had 10 cups of Expresso and when I am in spin class, my heartrate goes up to 200 and I almost pass out. I am new to all this but it seems you and I have shared similar symptoms so I would go to an Endo after getting the full blood work. Good luck!
