I had hypothyroidism when I was a kid, but with good blood tests for years, I got myself off of the synthroid. (probably 8-10 years ago) For the past two years, I have had many thyroid syptoms (symptoms) ranging from depression to massive weight gain and alot of fluid retention in my legs. I went back to my endo and my TSHPituitary and tsh Tsh level was 13.3 (it said normalNormal saline flush should be 0.34-5.60). They called and told me my hypothyroidism came back and they put me on 50MCG (0.05MG) levothyroxineLevothyroxine Levothyroxine sodium.
I went for an ultrasound and they called me today to tell me that they found a large 4cm nodule. They are sending me for the radioactiveRadioactive iodine uptake ultrasound test that they do. They told me to stop taking the levothyroxineLevothyroxine Levothyroxine sodium until after the test. I guess my question is, how uncommon is it to have a 4cm nodule? Does that make it more likely to be cancer, or less likely? I can not find any links online between the size of a nodule and TSH level. I would appreciate any advice you can lend in this matter. Thank you in advance for your help!
