A question

by sandradee643, Apr 23, 2009 08:20PM
I have a history of hyperthyroidism

Is there anyone who has been on medications and then after a break, becomming hyper again? Can you show me your test resaults then? I would like to compare them to mine.

I have been off meds for quite a long time but my blood tests have been following:
April 2008    tsh 2.0
july 2008: tsh 1,7 (0.38-4.8)           t4: 16,0(12.6-24.2)
october 2008:tsh 1,1 (0.38-4.8)      t4: 16,4(12.6-24.2)
02.april 2009: tsh: 0.46 (0.38-4.8)    t4: 16.5(12.6-24.2)

T3 was also normal.

Does this mean its becomming hyper again or is it normal that tsh fluctates like this?

I do not have my labs to share with you - sorry

But if I were you - I would suggest running Graves autoimmune hyperthyroid testing. I do not see anything listed above that indicates this.

What meds were you on? Are you talking about PTU's or anti thyroid meds?

I was hyepr diagnosed with Graves and didnt get the chance to come off anti-thyroid meds as I was going from hyper to hypo to hyper all within 2 weeks.
My antibodies were very high and 12 months on the ATDS did nothing for me.
I think I had Graves for many years but never really knew.
I do know my lowest tsh was 0.03...the FT3 & FT4 levels are different here in Australia.
I had RAI and TT last year and doing great now.
Normally if you have Graves then the antibodies can go down, hence the levels stabilise.
But once the antibodies flare up again, so too does the levels.
As Stella asked...have you had antibody testing done for Graves Disease?
