Some studies have shown that selenium can help in the conversion of T4 to T3. While it may not be helpful to everyone, it can help some. I, personally, find that when I take my selenium daily, my FT3 levels seem to stay higher.
There are several thyroid patients who use selenium, I don't because it has not benefitted me. You can read a great deal about the mineral here:

It's possible that a low level of selenium in the soils around you where your fruits, vegetables, and meats are grown can be affecting you as a mineral deficiency, but not a thyroid issue. I have not seen any medical evidence that it is effective.

Selenium has been shown to help with the conversion of T4 to T3, so it might be helpful. I take it daily. No, it should not be taken with other meds. I take it at bedtime.
Levothyroxine should be taken first thing in the morning, on an empty stomach, with a full cup of water; then nothing to eat or drink for at least 30-60 minutes. Your thybon could be taken soon after the levo; however, all other medications, should be separated by at least a couple hours from the levo. Vitamins and minerals, especially those containing calcium should be separated from thyroid medication by at least 4 hours, as they may inhibit absorption of the thyroid med(s).
