Acid reflux, heartburn, ,bloating and gas

I have had problems with acid reflux and bloating for the past couple of years. I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism after I had acquired thyroiditis, and am now on levothyroxine. I do not want to take any medication that will completely surpress all of the acid in my stomach to a point where I cannot digest anything or have long term negative effects, and I don't want anything that will force me to change my levels of levothyroxine. Is there a medication or an herbal remedy out there that will help at all and not interfere with my medication? The gas and bloating is what gets to me the most, and I tend to regurgitate a lot of times after I eat due to the acid reflux. I am a singing major in college, and need to find a solution before any more harm is done. Please help, I'm desperate!

FWIW, I have had severe bouts with acid reflux/bloated feeling when hypo.  Even though you are taking levothyroxine, is it possible that your meds have not been optimized enough to relieve hypo symptoms?   We hear from many members who continue having hypo symptoms because their dosage is too low, or their body does not convert T4 to T3 very well and their FT3 level is too low.

In my opinion the best way to treat a thyroid patient is to test and adjust levels of the biologically active thyroid hormones, free T3 and free T4 (not total T3 and total T4), with whatever type of medication is necessary to relieve symptoms, without being constrained by resultant TSH levels.  Symptom relief should be all important.  Many members have reported that symptom relief for them required that FT3 was adjusted into the upper part of its range and FT4 adjusted to at least midpoint of its range.

If you will post your thyroid test results and reference ranges, members will be happy to interpret and advise further.
