Advice for Upcoming Surgery

I have Graves Disease & am having a total thyroidectomy on Jan 20th. Does anyone have any advice or words of wisdom? Thank you!

Just be very "faithful" in getting your blood tested afterwards. Be ready to have patience in getting your dosage correct to where you will feel good again. It took me almost a year to find the correct dosage and 15 yrs later, still having dosage adjustments (just changed dosage again last week).

Take it easy after surgery and get plenty of rest and make sure you start eating healthy, you will gain some weight, but it will come off (at least it did for me), once your dosage is where it should be.

Get your Labs done...dont leave hospital without your Meds and be kind to yourself and allow yourself time to heal

i had my thyroid remove a year ago. my dosage is 125 mg. i have not began to see any weight loss. but i start walking and loss 12 pound in 2 week. but i have to walk 3 miles every other day. and i am watch what i eat.my hair is just start to grow a little .but i have to oil it every other night and it still shaft a little.it take a while for your body to get by to normal.just be patient and everything will work it self out.AM not as tried as i use to be.so i think am on the right mg.i have only been on 125  about 9 month now.i would like to go to the next dosage which is 137 or maybe 157 nothing high then that.good luck with everybody health.we need all the right resouce we can get in this life time of medicine .
