Am I hyperthyroid ? pls help!

Hello - I'm hoping someone can give me some guidance! For the past 6 weeks I've been feeling very anxious and shaking most of the time, also have muscle spasms and trouble sleeping. I've suffered from depression and anxiety in the past so the doctor told me to take another course of anti depressants -- however they just left me feeling worse - so bad that I collapsed and had to go to casualty with a fast heatbeat, excessive shaking etc...however they just told me to keep taking the medication and also gave me some valium and sleeping tablets. I kept taking them, but wasn't feeling better so the doctor then advised I come off them which I have now done and still have all the sympoms I had before except now I have nausea as well (espically in the monring) and diarrhea. The only thing that calms me down and helps me sleep is alcohol - obviously not something I want to have to rely on! I just really want to know what is wrong with me - as I really don't think this is all in my head!! I'm having blood tests tomorrow which I hope show up somthing - all advice appreciated x

HI there - thanks for the comments - I was actually feeling better today - even though I only had 3 hours sleep -my hand and legs aren't shaking as much, but I just felt a surge of panic whilst just sitting at my desk at work and had to take a valium to calm down - can't believe I need valium! I've never needed it before in my life and I'm 31.I also have no appetite until the evenings - the thought of eating right now is really making me feel ill. I had the blood test this morning and will hopefully have the results by Friday. This is the worst I've ever felt in my life - so your support is really valuable. I will get through this x

So many things could be the reason for the tremble. You ahve to do a process of eliminanation before any thoughts can be given.

Sorry I hope to see your tests soon.

I had your symptoms and still have some of them, got them first when I started with a premature menopause, and they got worse when I started with thyroid problems too. So it could possibly be thyroid trouble you have. And I don't know how old you are, but is there any chance you could be starting the menopause? As Stella says though, the test for the thyroid you have done will also give you some insight.

I really hope they find something, as at the moment I'm trying to just act normal, but it really difficult when my hands are shaking all the time, what else could it be??

These symptoms you describe are very common in many conditions. The testing that will be done may help unlock this situation for you.

After the testing - let us now your results (ranges and your levels specifically) if there is a thyroid issue - these blood tests will tell.

Good Luck
