Did not go to ENT today, rescheduled for July 1, 1:40 p.m.
One feverish kid and one exhausted one from the T-Ball All-Star Tournement - so I chose to stay home and play mom today. Wish us luck - we have clinched second and are fighting for the #1 spot tonight (if we don't get rained out!)!
Thanks for the thoughts and prayers.
My appt. will be Friday morning, i will post when i get back from it.....
I am so sorry for your loss, I know some of what you may be experiencing having lost my dad 8 years ago to cancer. He was 45 and my best friend. I was 22. Just know that you are not alone in this mess and there are others that can help you here and most of all, others that can be a shoulder to lean on. Many prayers and well wishes to you my dear, please go to the doctor, if nothing else, for the ease of mind that may come with it. Much love and keep us up to date! ~Kim
I'm sorry to sound like a repeat of ChitChatNine, I feel so very sorry for you - what a great loss! The greatest. I know what you mean by not really carring (not by my mother which is great; but, a dear friend). I hope you get the proper care that you need though. The mental pain seems beyond anything; yet the physical pain is still there in a numbing way and you just push on. Please Take care of yourself. Amy
I am sorry about the loss of you mom ........very sorry. Of course, dealing with such an emotinal stress is not helping you cope with your thyroid issues. Hugs, C~
My TT was due to graves disease/hyperthyroidism/goiter. I was on 200 mcg of synthroid for 12yrs, then they swithced my dosage to 125mcg, because they said I was being over medicated. I looked at my last blood work back in May 08 it showed TSH being 2.4, i will double check i have the records at home. I think a lot of not pursuing this at this time has a lot to do with being in a numb state and having the "i just don't care" attitude for the last two weeks. You see my mother passed away on June 8, I am still adjusting.
I have been to many doctors as well. I have been diagnosed with Fibro which on neuro said i had to having peripheral neuropathy from another neuro. I do not have either, no nerve damage, and definetley do not have the fibro from what i have read. I have only had two GP though. The other doctors are from the referrals that my GP has sent me too. I have to admit, both GP's have been very attenative, no complaints, they are sending me to every specialist they can think of, but have not been to and Endo yet. You would think that is where i would be sent, but they like all others go by lab results as oppose to symptoms. I have all my medical records for the last two years unfortunately they mean nothing to me. I go by what the GP tells me.
Totie - Please don't cancel your appointment! You sound as if you need it. So, I see you had a TT in 1994 - Can I ask what it was for? Depending on what it was for, it could be the reason for your difficulties now. I also note that your TSH was 2.4, that is a little high (I would think) for a person with no thyroid (from what I have read here anyway). Also, they found something on your spine and now you have painful swelling in another area and they aren't the slightest bit intrigued that all of this is coming now? I feel the same way you do hun that doctors just don't seem to connect the dots very well, I am on doc number.... I think 5, since this started in April for me. I saw an endo, an ENT, a GP, a surgeon, and now a new ENT. I just refuse to give up.... I mean, I have moments that I say I am done, but then some more swelling comes, I feel like he!! or get pains in wierd places and that just pushes me forward. Please don't give up, go for the appointment, you can't get better if you don't go --- that's my mantra (it has to be b/c I am going nuts!!). Let me know what happens! ~Kim
You tell him WE sent you to see him and if he is good WE will refer him lots of business and lots of happy cats LOL!!!!
Have you added the tracker? I would do that and either send it to him via e-mail ahead of the appt or show him while you are there .. login from his laptop!!!! Or print out a chart and bring it with you!!!!
You can track your symptoms with events!!!!!

I have been having a lot of symtoms and this last time my GP said some of my blood work came back on the high end. WBC, HCT, MCV, and Lymph % ; whatever those mean, i try looking them up, but it just confuses me. I still have the deep muscle pain, night sweats, weight loss (since Jan have lost 26lbs), not trying. Constant urination and have always had insomnia since TT back in 94. The lymph nodes i can say are very painful. I was put on prednisone back in April, but it did not help the inflammation or pain in the neck, so she finally decided to send me to the ENT.
I keep telling her it is some auto immune disease, but she just blows me off. My last test on TSH was 2.4, so she does not think it has anything to do with the thyroid. I have had so many tests done. I was low on B12 and Vit D, a 2" mass found somewhere by my spine, but will check again in 2-3 months to see if it grows.
I have pretty much accepted that this is how my body is built, deal with it. I am really not looking forward to going to the ENT. I sometimes get my hopes up that maybe this time they will figure it out, but then get to thinking, it is going to be another one of those, can not find anything wrong, or you are preplexing patient.
Pure frustration, that in all honesty i am seriously considering canceling it..
Totie:
ENT can / does anything associated with Ears, Nose and Throat. I say that causiously as my last ENT (who I trusted b/c he treated my children) just brushed me off when my thyroid started swelling with exertion. If you have a swollen lymph gland under your jaw it could be a number of things, but most likely a swollen gland. If it is kind of mid line or to the right or left still under the chin, it could be swollen submandibular glands (this region is directly under the mandible (bottom jaw - I sound like I know what I am talking about, but really I just learned that because of my swollen glands there). They can be felt, but not seen on me. The ENT will most likely feel this area and see if it is a node, what kind of swelling, hard, painful, etc and then run tests accordingly. I also have a slight swelling right at / under my ear and that is the parotid gland and my CT revealed nothing on that, it is just bigger than the other and kind of tender sometimes. They may do bloodwork to see if you have an infection also. The endo did a cbc on me and it did not show anything, but they might run other tests if they think you have been sick, I am not sure. I hope this helps you some. I know it is hard when you don't know what it happening to you. I feel the same way. I still feel like **** and my glands (including thyroid and other parts of my neck) swell when I get hot, excercise, clean, mow, etc. I am so sick of it. I pray everything can be answered for you and let me know how it goes! Kim
Amy:
Hey hun!! Haven't seen ya on lately, you been doing o.k.? Thanks for the pep talk and I will be sure to let you know how it goes. Hugs to you! ~Kim
Hi there. I truly hope and pray you get a nice Doctor or at least one that will explain to you in a professional manor what is going on.
My guess for checking the lymph nodes would be and ultrasound and bld work. But that's just a guess. Since he is a new Dr. it will probably just be reviewing your previous records this time as a consult type visit. Glad to hear you are going to a different Dr.
I hope you get an answer soon. : )
Just curious, i am having my first appt. with an ENT this Friday. What exactly do they do or check for? I was referred because of some palable "thing" under my jaw line that is painful. (Lymphnodes I think).
What exactly will he do, or what tests would he run?
Thanks.
LOL - I thought I posted this under the appointment thread!
