Anyone have some insight to my ACTh ordeal???

I just got a call from the endo and she has told me that my second set of lab work produced a high-normal cortisol and a high ACTh level. She said she is prescribing a suppressant for the hormone...I guess to rule out Cushings. Next is the MRI or the pituitary. I have symptoms of (mild) fatigue, anxiety, and the occasional palpitation. Anyone else ever experienced this? It would greatly help me to relax if someone could enlighten me on what to expect or even what may be going on.

Your adrenal glands can become weak after a thyroid removal and it clearly points to not being medicated properly with meds after that removal.

The longer you are held at a low level of thyroid hormone with meds or underdiagnoised the weaker the function is of the adrenals.

If you are showing up now on an ACTH adrenal tests as abnormal - this had to be a long period of things starting based off the low thyroid function .

In cases of this happening you may have to seek HC steriod treatment now and could be permanently,  for your abnormal adrenal function but the situation still would exsist on thyroid if you aren't medicated right there.

Have you had any thyroid FREE T3 and FT4 labs done. What thyroid meds are you on? Post your complete lab report if you can please.

I guess this is something that I must of had before I had issues with the thyroid. Not sure why it's creeping up all of a sudden. I have always been a pretty healthy person. I am not understanding why my body is going through this. I am truly frightened on what's to come. I am praying for the best.

Hi, it isn't due to your thyroid being removed. The adrenal glands have two areas which make the hormones, one comes from the pituitary gland and it is that they will be looking at on the MRI, as well as your adrenal glands.
