Anyone in my shoes-Hypothyroidism?

Anyone else felt gassy, constipation, feeling like carbonated bubbles in your body(front and back), disoriented, depressed, feeling of failure, crying, weepy?  I have had chest pains and even had pains in the muscles or something up there that could be caused by GERD or Gastritis(which I have been told I had but no one seems to listen-never had problems before the gallbladder was out and really have not had much problems eating etc). I think it is all thyroid related. I have tinglings all over my body at times. Sometimes it feels like indigestion(sp) where someone is grabbing a sponge in my chest and tightening it.

I have had my gallbladder out, had my tonsils out, had my thyroid out(in fact, I had two surgeries) and have had lots of tests(blood, xrays, urines and all). It doesn't look like there is anything really wrong. My thyroid levels (according to a GP) are a little low but he doesn't think I should change my meds. (He has me on 75 mg).  I am 215 pounds. I had a total hysterectomy.  I feel like something is wrong. I feel like maybe my meds needs to be raised. Do any of you think weight might have an effect on your dose of synthyroid?

Thanks.... I think all the meds they have given me have thrown me off track. When I go to the doctor on Thursday, what should I say, so she doesn't throw me off track? Should I ask for a little higher dose of the synthyroid-like go up, or should I stay the same at 75 as they all said, and should I ask for a T3 supplement.  I thought I have been growing crazy.

Typical hyper symptoms and the acid is off the chart - When hypo - I.B.S.

It is all "wired" together and took alot of checking to figure this out.

Another great point to bring up is PH levels and thyroid. Hyper will raise your PH acid - FACT- !! . hense acid reflux.  HYPO is oppisite - no acid which means bloating and constipation.

Now find a doctor to agree, Very hard - it is easier to give the patient an Rx then fix the problem

PH levels can be the key to balance your condition. and maitain a thyroid balance.

Stay off acid meds if you can. They wreek havoc on your Synthroid.

Suck a lemon - glup a tablespoon or two of vinaeger (sounds gross) but......

those are PH stabilizers without meds. and that is a fact too.

Beware of those antacids. I believe with all my heart with no medical backing that GERD/reflux and IBS relate to the thyroid Never had I had a problem with any of that until my thyroid flared up. For me, I have learned to listen to my body. Again, for me, When I am hyper my acid reflux flares like a tornado and nothing touches it most of the time. Recently my med dosage has changed (lower) Armour, and my reflux has become manageable with no meds.

Anti acids will counter act you thyroid meds. I can not stres enough give yourself 4 hours in between them and your thyroid meds.

Thanks for your suggestions. I am taking my synthroid 75mcg, and 2 probiotics and some digestive enzymes. I go to a doctor Thursday. I just don't want to be on meds for long and I feel like I am on the road to recovery. I think I just got down because I let my mind get down. Does that make sense? When you get wrapped up in your self.... I will ask my doctor about the celiac disease.  I was listening to everyone's opinions but God's and my own heart.....

I have had the same symptoms as you and found out that I have celiac (gluten intolerant).  I am taking protonix for the time being until my poor insides get a chance to heal.  I had a hard time accepting that but today I am starting not to eat anything that is on my list of food allergies and certainly not gluten.  I am going to a holistic MD who is giving me supplements to heal my stomach and also instead of an antidepressent which have side effects I am taking L-5HTP which is an amino acid, they call it the natural prozac.  I just started yesterday SAMe.  It seems to be working slowly and there are no side effects with either.  Please do not just go out and buy them.  Have them overseen by a doctor and make sure you buy them in a reputable health food store.  You can have your blood tested for celiac disease by your regular MD.  Depression, and moods and all kinds of things can happen from food allergies.    hope this helps   linda

I would take the new dosage the morning after I got the new scrip filled.

Just my opinion.

Hey Ya'll!
I have a question. If your synthroid is increased or decreased, should you waita  few days before taking the new dose?

One day and I was dying. I was nervous and dry throat and my heart beat so fast and it was just spacey. I don't think  i need the antidepressant. I think it is just about regulating your thyroid and eating right and getting outside and doing things. Don't analyze things so much. Are youa  Christian? I am and I am not different than al ot of people. I have gone through a period of floundering and flopping like a fish out of water--job wise, and more. Why? God is trying to get my attention, and I was not paying attention, and I am not saying God makes things up or makes us sick, but I think He uses those times as opportunities to teach us about faith, trust and hearing Him. I am the same way. You don't want to sound like a hypochondriac and yet you feel guilty for having pains and aches. But it is important to tell the doc what is going on. And anytime, hey, feel free to chat with me! We are all learning..

What were your side effects ?  I took that and after about 2 days felt like I was dying, felt like my throat was closing up and felt real nervous.  That was all pre-thyroid so not sure if I should try again or just talk to my Endo. and tell him it is time to be serious.
He is always joking and laughing and seems to think everything will  be fine and I catch myself putting on a brave face and saying things are OK just because he is so cheery and I dont want to disappoint him.  WOW that is lame...LOL...anyway Thanks for listening.

Yeah, go figure. You know. My doctor gave me Effexor today.. I took one and the side effects of one day arent worth it. I will live with being gassy and the muscle spasm feelings until I see my specialist..

You described EXACTLY how I feel, and yet my doctors will NOT listen.  I am on Protonix for now, I even asked about being gassy and they just laughed and said they had never heard of that from Thyroid or synthroid.  Go figure....LOL.

Make them check all your levels not just TSH....my TSH read fine my T4 was low and I was misssserable!   It took a year of fighting with my GP to get them to look at all levels again and finally ended up with double the meds!  DEMAND that you feel better.  They get paid and your insurance company pays them to help you.  I had to flat out tell my dr. I didn't care what her weight was I know when I don't feel myself and told her I needed her to listen instead of tell.

Yo uare blessing. Thanks for responding. I have to go a new OB/GYN who has been in the business forever about some other stuff and I am going to talk to her about it. I just think my former OB/GYN who told me that my thyroid levels were fine and dropped me like a hot potato from 200 mcg to 50 did my body some problems.  I have been miserable for two eyars.

Any time I am feeling "off" I go to my Endocrinologist.  It took my GP three long and painful years to diagnose me with hyperthyroidism - so no offense to GPs or your GP but now I go straight to my Endo.  She seems more in tune with even the slightest symptoms and the potential causes.  For instance, I was feeling REALLY tired, moody, etc...and assumed it was my thyroid.  But due to her great detective work, she discovered it was Pernicious Amemia.  I guess my point is, if you feel like something is off, it probably is.  And if your GP thinks you are fine, you should maybe find another doctor who is more sensitive to your thyroid issues. You know your body best!  Good luck!
