Armour Thyroid or Cytomil?

I have been doing a little research after test results showed low T3, low end but within range TSH, and near high but within range T4.  It was suggested that I take Cytomil in addition to the Synthroid that I have been taking for 8 years now. My question is after researching the internet, and reading a lot of good press for Armour Thyroid, should I ask my doctor to put me on Armour Thyroid or just add a prescription for Cytomel to bring my T3 levels back within range.  Out of curiosity, I've decided to look at all the previous tests that I have accumulated over the past 19 years, and discovered that in all those years I had not been tested for T3 levels until just recently.  Go figure.   Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

I'd get all the actual numbers and post back - my guess would be either a conversion problem - or antibody issue.

The actual numbers - even if you are told normal would be very helpful

Hi Stella5349,

The T3 and T4 I mentioned earlier in my comments were the free type.  I checked my lab test after coming home from work.  So, as I said, I was never tested for free T3 until just recently and it is showing a low rating.  I'll be calling my doctors office tomorrow morning to see what the results are and hopefully my free T3 is in normal range.  Thank  you for your feedback.  Northof49

You should be tested regularly for the FT3 and the FT4 (see the F) this is the Free T's through your system

When you say T3 and T4 that could mean "inbound " T's and those tests are useless.

Both Cytomel and Armour have built in T3 so you may benefit from either one.

Armour is an all built in thyroid med where all the T's are in one tablet and it is a natural form of thyroid replacement.

Synthroid is strickly a T4 synthetic thyroid replacement and Cytomel is strickly a T3 synthetic thyroid enhancement.

Both therapies are well thought of - it depends on the patients and how you feel after being on the replacements.

Best to really look back at the T's testing as I stated above to make sure you are looking at the FREE T's and not inbound though.
