Armour thyroid and pregnancy?

Has anyone been on armour thyroid and had a successful pregnancy?  I am currently on 4 grains of armour.  I don't have a thyroid.  I just suffered a miscarraige.  The doctors are doing lots of testing to determine why I miscarried.  I was searching for a succesful pregnancy story and someone that took armour thryoid while pregnant.

My wife currently suffers from Hashimotos disease and is taking armour thyroid. We've also had trouble from miscarriage. Currently she is pregnant and we made it passed the first trimester.

I am not a medical professional, but I have been doing a lot of research to ensure my wife's pregnancy is successful. If you are on armour thyroid you can expect your dosage to go up dramatically. The goal is to keep your TSH down. My wife's previous miscarriages were due to high TSH mainly from waiting around for a doctor to tell us the results of her blood work.

The reason this pregnancy is successful so far is because we didn't wait for the doctor to increase her dosage. The best way to take armour thyroid is in separate pills throughout the day instead of all at once. The doseage amount will vary depending on the severity of your thyroid disease. Before getting pregnant you need to establish how much you need. You can tell by the way you feel, if you feel warm and energetic you are meeting your body's demand. If you are feeling cold and tired you need to increase your intake by 15mcg. As an example, my wife started with 30mcg when she was first diagnosed and it was adequate for a couple of months but the she started getting cold and tired again so we increased her dosage to 45 mcg. She couldn't take the 45 mcg all at once because her throat would start hurting, so we split it up into one 30 mcg in the morning and one 15 mcg half pill at dinner. Eventually she needed 60 mcg, so she took two 30 mcg pills, one on the morning and one at dinner. Her need stopped increasing at 75 mcg, two and a half pills a day spread out over breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

When she got pregnant, her dosage jumped up to 90 mcg and has been continuing to increase. The best way to tell you need more is to have a partner feel the temp of your hand. If you are warm then you are fine, if you are warm but on the cool side you should take a 15 mcg. If you are cold take a 30 mcg. This has worked to keep my wife's TSH down. Keep your hand temp warm and you should be fine.

Hi, I don't take Armour, but I've been on generic synthroid since I got pg with my 3rd child.  I am hypothyroid and my TSH was gradually going up over the years.  I m/c in April 2003, but it seemed to be b/c of a blighted ovum.  I conceived again in Oct 03, started synthroid, and have a healthy 4-year-old.  My TSH started climbing again over the last year, I conceived in Feb 08, and m/c in March.  My OB increased my synthroid in April & again in May and I just got my BFP last week.  We're still trying to get it regulated, but I think my m/c might have been a combination of high TSH, 2 clotting disorders, and my age (I'm 40).  i don't know how or if Armour differs from synthroid.
