I've been takng ArmourArmour thyroid for three years now. I finally found a doc to increase the amount since I'm still so tired. I've been taking 180 in the am and 180 in the afternoon. I just had a saliva test to test my adrenalsAddison’s disease Adrenal gland biopsy Adrenalectomy Catecholamines - blood and I found my progesterone to be over 1000, which is very high and cause tiredness, depression and can almost stop your periods. I have all those symptoms and last month my period didn't even last one day. Any connection do you think to the armourArmour thyroid? I haven't taken any other meds and can't figure out why I have so much.
Thanks for the reply. I'm getting blood work done tomororw and will post results when I have them. I'm not on HRT, i'm only 45 and just in early menapause. Thanks!
Well if you are in a thyroid distress situation ( as it looks above) you can really be in more of a perimenopause situation and your hormone testing levels are falling into a normal range.
You need to get individual testing on estrodiol - Progesterone and Testosterone ( for sure ) levels done - An FSH - LS panel will probably range out for you under the follicular phase.
I am going to bet that your TSH will come back pretty low with that amount of thyroid hormones coming in and that could be causing the cycle problems for you - Could it cause Progest - to sky rocket - That I am not sure.
Being on Armour you definately want to push for these thyroid tests - TSH - Free T3 ( way important) and Free T4.
A total T3 will not be a good indicator on anything taking the direct T3 in Armour. - push for free testing.
If you are not having any anxiety or jitteryness going on then those tests above I would start out doing. If anxiety is an issue adding the Vit D- B and ferritin testing to the above tests would be good to follow up with too.
It's 6 grains. That is high - What is your thyroid history. Is it dead ?
My Lord - your progesterone is threw the roof!! Are you taking HRT?
All your symptoms match up to overload of progesterone except the period thing. Usually too much Pregest - will make you bleed more.
A body can not take that much Progest - it will spill into Testosterone causing that level to increase.
I think it is both - You over load of Armour AND you hormones.
Can you jot the labs down from your last draw?
