Armour

by sidneythyroid, Aug 20, 2008 11:49AM
I am looking and have been looking for a physician that will prescribe Armour the physician I have at the moment will not. I find personally that synthroid doesn't address all my symtoms such as suvere brain fog, BP, weight issues, coarse hair, brittle nails...on and on.  I believe I am going into Adrenal failure because of these issues not being address with current physician. I would very much appreciate help with this.

Your going to have to build your adrenals up first before any thyroid med will help. In fact in some cases you can make it worse if your adrenals are in real bad shape. Adrenal failure is a life threatening situation....have you been diagnosed with this? Or are you saying you think you have adrenal weekness? You need to take a good form of B's 2-3 times per day....high dosage of good vit c and get a good adrenal support from your local health food store. If your adrenals are bad enough it will show on cortisol tests. Best think to do is to order a saliva panel on line from one of the labs and do it on your own. It will give you a true reading throughout the day and night. As far as the dr that will prescribe armour, you can go to stop the thyroid madness website and check their physician locator for armour prescribing drs. I think the armour website has the same type of locator.
Also on one last note: Did you have all the tests done for autoimmune thyroid disease? Do you have hashi's? Did you have a free t3 and free t4 test done with your last tsh?
Post your latest lab results with lab ranges and let us take a look and see if your levels are truly optimal since a lot of dr's do not know what levels are right.

I am thinking because of my symptoms witch are getting worse the big ones are insomnia, brain fog, wieght problems around the stomach area. I have looked at stopthethyroidmadness. I have also gone to the Forest company directory for my area. I have asked my Endo who won't budge from Snthyroid even after I expressed that it doesn't have enough T hormones to warrant a positive outcome. Also fround when I asked about the Adrenal test saying we can do that then never mentions it again. My most recent test three weeks ago showed TSH level at 1.9 and the T3 at 1.7 but the doctor didn't bother to do a T4. Lame doctors around here. No, I was tested for adrenal failure before hand and frankly wasn't given any alternative to surgery. The only doctor on those website has since moved long ago and far away.  No I didn't have an autoimmune thyroid test done nor hashi's so stupid. I am suffering for it now.

Sorry, wasn't tested for adrenal failure.

You are probably adrenal fatigued...common with women especially. You will know if you feel a diff on supplements and adrenal support.
I actually found an internist who prescribed my armour. If you are in a small town area you might have to drive to a nearby city....did you check the surrounding areas on the searches? Oh also, usually doctors that do the bio-identical hormones will also rx armour. Just a couple of thoughts. Definately do the saliva panel on your own...I did. I used ZRT labs off the computer. I did a complete hormone panel as well.
You also need to be tested for hashi's asap.
What was the lab range for your T3 test? Cannot believe they didnt do a free t4....big dummies they are!!

I will definately get the adrenal support pronto before the test thats o.k. isn't it. Memory is sooooo,.bad.  I told the doctor to give me a Free T3 and Free T4 and my symtoms but how many times she went to the blood test and never heard me. Why is it so important to get the Hashimoto test done after the Thyroid is gone? I will look up ZRT for sure.

Sometimes if you can find an older dr, they might be more open to the armour.

Hey, don't forget to check out our armour post. You can ask questions there as well.

My ENT prescribed it before I even asked.
