Blood Pressure Changes ?

This may be unrelated to thyroid but thought I'd ask anyway.
I started taking Thyroid meds a bit over 3 weeks ago. Prior to that time my formerly textbook 120/80 blood pressure had been creeping up to the 130/90 range at doctor's checks, though it was slightly lower at home.
Today I was tired as usual and hadn't taken my BP at home for a very long time. I dug out the monitor and I took it several times today and basically it's coming out around 100/62
each time.
Does your blood pressure drop when your thyroid med starts working? Is this a hopeful sign or just an aberration?

I was diagnosed hypothyroid last summer and prescribed 50mg, then 75mg, then 100mg of synthroid.  Monday I go to find out if the dosage goes up or not.

I was putting on weight before last summer and since.  But lately I've noticed (and my husband has noticed) that I'm "missing" on my thinking, like it's foggy or something.  I'm taking the Bar in 4 1/2 months--this is not a good time for this.

I also find out about going on BP meds--I used to be 120/80, it crept up to 130/80.  But now I'd LOVE to have 130/90!  I've been sticking around 150/90-160/100.  Not good.

Cholesterol is great (total is around 157) and fasting blood sugar is 86.

My bp has been higher since I started syntrhoid but is is still within normal range.I am waiting for my cholesteral test to come back to see if it is high and maybe thatis why my heart is enlarged.

Mine was running too high until they got my TSH levels down to normal, I was hypo, and now it is really good.

There is one little piece from  American Family Physician. Sept 1, 2002 on thyroid medication in hypertensive patients and what percentage were restored to normal BP after being on thyroid medication. Apparently 3% of all people with hypertension have it because of hypothyroidism and treatment with thyroid meds alone restores normal BP to 50% of these patients.

Blood pressure changes throughout the day, from day to day, from monitor to monitor (yours and doctors) and for various reasons.

Thyroid medication shouldn't effect BP per se.  Unless under or over medicated as in; very, very, very, hypo (Myxedema coma) or very, very, very hyper  (Thyroid storm).

Your BBs are very good, especially PP is very good, which most heart doctors go by now days. Mine fluctuate at a large spread and  my PP is very seldom as good as yours - lucky lady!

Probably more like stress or some other reason, or short term cause.

Wow! That's an awful lot to go through in just six months! You must be very strong to be able to cope with it all at once. I'm sorry about the rise in your BP. Did they put you on a med for it, or is it borderline and you don't need anything?

You know, I was thinking that the levoxyl might raise BP and heart rate too, but that's definitely not happening in my case , at least not yet, nothing will surprise me though.

A few months ago I never thought about my thyroid and now I think, irrationally, that I actually hate the trouble-making thing.

My blood pressure has gone up since TT and RAI and menopause in the last 6 months.  Use to be arond 117ish/82ish.  Now it very seldom below 135-145/85-100.  My resting heart rate has gone up also.   My weight increase of at least 25 lbs since TT probably doesn't help either.
