Things started moving this am.. I have made about 5 visits to the washroom. If I continue to have this problem I will get the stool softeners. I did take those (softeners) for a week after surgery with no results. I will try a different brand next time. Thanks again for all of your advice.. Talk about being miserable..Yuk..

Jenipeni is SO smart. She has so much valuable information. I'm sorry I led you astray with the benefibre.
Because you are REALLY REALLY constipated immediately cease use of the benefibre - what you are doing at the moment may continue to back your system up. Literally squeezing more and more in with no where for it to go. Fibre alone is useful treating ongoing constipation which is usually a bit milder than the post surgical type. During surgery the gastrointestinal system "goes to sleep" too and functions at the most basic level which does not include processing foods or passing stools. It can take awhile to get it back up and running like usual.
You must use apperients (laxatives / stool softeners etc) to get things moving FIRST then use fibre in your diet to prevent it occuring again. Fresh fruit and vegetables are still an absolute must - AND plenty of fluids. See your doctor if things don't get moving soon - I imagine the discomfort may force you to seek treatment if this goes on much longer anyway.
Lactulose liquid + Coloxyl with Senna tablets + micro enema
is usually an effective combination, which can be repeated until you start getting results. Then resume benefibre.
Best wishes.

Sooo glad things have started moving finally! Keep up the benefibre then.
Shaerich - you didn't lead anyone astray, it is still good advice and a good product you recommended. The products I was talking about just speed the process up quite alot. If someone is really extremely constipated things can get complicated and faeces can become impacted (literally stuck) which can require manual removal (really really yucky) or surgical intervention. No one wants that.
Gotta go get to work.
Cheers

The first two days I took it 3 times, just like it said. Then things got moving so I went to once a day and that didn't work. I'm now taking it twice a day and that seems to be working well.
Hi..
I have been taking it for six days and have gone only once. I am only taking 2 heaping teaspoonfuls in the morning with my coffee and I am thinking I better do it twice a day. I am very bloated on top of that it is also that time of month. I have been very miserable.
I am doing great with the no smoking..on day 10 now. I am so tired.. It's 3 weeks today I had the PT surgery. I have an appt. on the 27th with an Endo.. Whooo Hoo.. I'm on my way to getting better.. :)
Thanks for asking. How much Benefiber do you take everyday.
