Hello,
I was diagnosed of having Hyperthyroidism about a year ago and placed on Carbimozole 40mg. The overactive thyroid is now under control going by the result of my test. But my Eyes are still buldging out and my vision impaired. I see two images and unable to focu. I am still takin carbimaole 5mg three time a day. But when I take the carbimazole my vision become worst and blood sugar level increase. My question is, is carbimazole giving side effect of poor vision, or am I taking too high dose of it. Or is there any substitue durg I can take to bring down my swelling eyes and resort my sight. Please I need your help. The poor sight is preventing my moving around. I went to see an optamologist who gave me Predisolone. This has not help . please help me I dont know what to do now?

a friend of mine had this same problem. her high thyroid levels were doing the same thing to her eyes. she had to have eye surgery to get her eyes placed back to their normal position and has been fine ever since. she wears glasses but she doesn't have as many vision problems as she did in the past.

Hi,

you need to go back to the opthamologist and the endo to see about adjustment of meds.  It is quite important to get the eyes stabilised.  Poor vision sounds like the effect of the hyperthyroid.

My good friend has this.  She was given quite high doses of steroids to get the eyes under control.
