CL update: Good Morning .. I've been offline a bit as my daughter had an anaphylactic reaction to hidden nuts in a peach gummy ring .. she is aboslutely fine but I was pretty emotional ...

about it after she was out of the woods, etc.  She is life threateningly allergic to latex, plums, nuts, etc. but never had a throat closing episode in her life .. it happened 20secs after eating a few peach gummy ring candies .. afterwards the label said it was produced on equip. made with nuts!  She is severely allergic to nuts with Hazelnuts being the worst offender.

So thanks for bearing with me right now as I've missed being on board with you all .. but get ready .. SHE IS BACK .. soon ... at the allergist this morning and then back home ...

If anybody wants to bump their post that's fine .. also it is ok to PM me if you need to get me quick on something .. I'm here for you all on this community and value your friendship, too, so thus the update .....

Be back soon friends,

Cheryl - Co CL Thyroid

Glad to her your daughter is okay.  Your experience is a learning experience for anyone else on this board who may be in the same situation as you and your family.  Thank you for sharing and educating the rest of us on the importance of not sticking our heads in the sand and being prepared to act when the time comes!

Im sorry to hear that but ....happy that everything is ok. My son at the age of two had a near death experience ( they are not sure how he is still here) but anyway when your child is endanger of lossing their life, your not in the state of mind to think "normal". You dont want to hurt them any more than they are already hurting and in a way are worried that "you" might kill them if you do ....do something. I was very scared myself when my incident happend expecially walking in the er and having a priest there reading my 2 yr old son his "rights". Its a very scary and total normal experience. Im sure if there is ever a second time we will do what we knows best!
Take Care:)

PS:  Yes we have an epi pen and were told we should have used it .. that is a whole nother issue in itself .. a parent easily can go into denial .. not believing what they see and minimize what is going on ... it didn't cause her any harm this time, but next time we know to do it 1-2-3 and not think twice.  She has a bad case of croup .. that is where the airway constricted ... so now she is on mega prednisone and Benadryl ev. 6 hrs (50mgs) .. today she is very sore all over (meds plus the tenseness from the episode) .. the ER doc was great but really lashed into me for not using the Epi Pen ..... sooooo knowledge is great if it is employed ... LOL
