Can I take Melatonin at night if I have hypothyroidism due to Hashimoto's dise

At times, I have a difficulty falling asleep. Melatonin supplement says do not take if you have an auto-immune disease. Does Hashimoto's hypothyroidsm fall into this category? What happens if I take melatonin? Does any one have any other suggestions to help me fall asleep? I am interested in natural supplements.
Thanks.

I have read that people with autoimmune diseases should NOT take Melatonin. I do have trouble getting to sleep but am doing much better now. About 1-2hrs prior to bed time I slow my pace. Don't be on your computer 1hr prior to bedtime! Turn off most lights and get ready for bed. Only use the bedroom for sleep and sex. Train your body to go bed at the same time every night. You may lie there for a long time at first. I put on very very low soothing music and I fall asleep. I'm on enough meds and don't want to use anymore than necessary.
CHECK WITH YOUR DOCTOR PRIOR TO USING ANY HERBS OR SUPPLEMENTS!!!!!

Best of luck to you!

If you do a search through google with search terms such as "sleep better," you'll come up with lots of peoples experiences posted on reviews for natural products.  It's very helpful.  I've read that a lot of amino acids help well with sleep.

God bless you.

It because melatonine is actually a naturally occuring hormone in our bodies. All hormones work together and yours are already messed up from Hashimoto.

Try Valerian Root (herb-plant capsule) before bed, works better for most people.

That is odd, I have never read that before. It might be a good idea to research that one. You could try a sleepy time tea or something similar and read the ingredients as well. Usually they have chamomile in it.
