Can someone help me interpret these results ?

by waitn2b, Nov 03, 2008 01:22PM
What do these results mean, if anything ?
My TSH was .8 (point 8)
My Free T4 was also .8 (point 8).
I know they both fall in the "normal" range. However, I don't feel normal and have had many symptoms of hyperthyroidism.
I'm being referred to an endocrinologist but my first visit is not until January. Any ideas what these results mean ?

Your TSH level is right about normal. Should be close enough. Most people like to be at about1.0-1.5.Im assuming that you are not on any medication and this was your intiall test.As far as free t-4 goes i cant comment on that beacuse im still learning myself. I only will comment on what I know. But i know that your free T-3 levels are inportant as well. Along with adaquate adrenals and other things which im sure others will feel you in with.good luck.

Do you know the lab range on the Free T4 test?
0.8 is fairly low. How low depends on the lab range.

Hyper symptoms would suggest a high hormone level.

Your Free T4 indicates a low hormone level. Your Free T3 is the important number, and if it was tested it might show as a bit high, although still within lab limits.

Your TSH is fairly normal, although your body may be used to a TSH that is a bit higher, as mudkme83 said.

If that was your first round of tests, and you feel hyper, you should monitor your symptoms. If you are not improving, or start feeling markedly worse, get retested in a month. Sooner if you start feeling really bad.

Your tests look normal.
Sorry you don't feel normal.
