I absolutely can feel mine. when i swallow it moves up and down. i think i have had it for several months, finally went to pcp and he found it palpable himself. he sent me for US and now have to go for biopsy. i am with you on "going crazy" waiting on these results, it is if my life is at a standstill. i would definitely get a second opinion and have a biopsy . my doc never told me the results of US, i had to ASK HIM, is it fluid filled or a solid. i swear docs can be the biggest *****. anyway he only told me that it was solid. i do believe there are other signs that could cause alarm on an US, but he didn't tell me a thing. i should go to his office right now and demand to see the report. but i am not sure that i want to. good luck and most most definitely have it checked out.

If you get that choke sensation an ENT will do a scope to rule out compression .. I would make an appt with one of those guys, too ...
C~
I had a large nodule on my thyroid; I could see it, but my endo couldn't (until he saw the ultrasound). However, my surgeon saw it plain as day. He even pointed it out to his assistant. I could feel it in my throat as well because it would press somewhat on my trachea. I had it removed surgically because it was overactive. Just a note, tho, my endo didn't have a US either; I had to go to an imaging center, so that's not unusual. It's also not unusual to try many different endos until you find one that cares and listens to you. Good luck and let us know how everything goes.
LOL that is a good analogy coco! My moron endo (don't use him now, I see an ent) did not have US in his office either.
According to my Doctor, the MRI report did not say where it was located, just that I have one. The Endo I went to did not have an US in his office. That worried me a bit. Don't most Endos have an US or am I just delusional, expecting to much?
I have felt this object for almost 10 months. Something is irritating a nerve which is causing me intermittent hoarseness, shortness of breath, pain, etc. It's like there's a marble in there attached to tissue. Sometimes it feels like a hunk of glass. Sometimes it feels like it's in my muscles. Am I the Princess and the 1.2cm Pea?
The thyroid palpation requires daily practice and sensitive hands [ don’t ask me to palpate anything now because I lost much of my tactile sensitivity as result of injury to the back]; the firm solid nodule 1.2 cm in size can be palpated if it is located on anterior [front surface of the neck].
If this nodule is originated from thyroid and not a lymph node it should be biopsied according to the criteria. The ultrasound of the thyroid and near-by area is better then MRI scan to find if nodule is thyroid related.
As aside note one patient with full neck was almost choked by inexperienced physician; latter ultrasound revealed that her thyroid was partly substernal due to anatomical variation and palpation was useless in this case.
Coco - my ent says he "thinks" he feels a nodule and has been saying that for a couple of months now. He has only now ordered a repeat US for 10/29/08. I *think* I can feel my nodule but am never sure because for me, there may not be one, who knows! When I had my first US in April and a CT in June, I had no nodules.
Your ENDO was wrong in saying that for sure. It's ok if you don't feel it, just as long as they biopsy it as it is bigger than 1 cm so they CAN. Have they scheduled the biopsy?
OK .. GREAT ?
My PCP and Endo could feel mine at 1.9cm's and even after my biopsy, ultrasound etc. I still could not feel it!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I disagree with your Dr ....................how could he say something like that?
I had a terrible feeling with an outward lump right after my surgery that they all said was from the internal stitches and not worry .. then when they removed that lump the Dr. said, "Gee .. it was touching your trachea .. very close to it .. no wonder why you felt it pressing in on it!!!". It was scar tissue unrelated to the surgery from an infected cyst.
Definitely get a biopsy ...............where is it located according to the MRI report?
WELCOME~!
