Better let your doctor to find out what you have. drinking sure affect your liver, but there are so many other things can cause your ast/alt to go up.  better check it all out. after your ultrasound, if all normal, you may have to get a liver scan, and at last, may be a liver biopsy, one step a time. they will get to bottom of it. if everything are normal, then over weight may be the reason.  74/209 is not at the alarming stage yet. but you want to make sure it does not keep going up...  ( i never heard drinking affect thyroid, ast/alt won't affect your thyroid either, but thyroid can affect ast/alt, I heard some Hypo people have high ast/alt or hyper people take too much thyroid meds). better talk to a GI(liver) doctor at this point.

You need ask your doctor what that 'all over the place' mean ..Anyway, it is good they start check your liver function.   Also, Are you taking any Thyroid meds now ??  the reason I ask you this question is because some thyroid meds can affect your liver function....

I am more worry about your AST and ALT level. Something is affecting your liver function. Are you over weight ?  taking any meds ?  What do you or your doctor mean 'they are all over the place' ?

TSH anf T-4 might suggest hyperthyroidism.  No T-3 listed so can't suggest autoimmune thyroid.  Although it doesn't matter because hyperthyroid and autoimmune thyroid have the same treatments.

The important issue is what did the nurse say and what does the doctor say.

Good Luck and Happy Holidays
