I have basically all of the symptoms of hyprethyroidism except for the weight loss. If all of the test results are showing hyperthyroidism, why am I not losing weight?
Is your appetite increased or normalNormal saline flush? How about your energy level? Does your doc give you hope on losing it? How long now? Oh, are you gaining in any particular area or all over? Thanks for the info. I'm still waiting to see if its GravesGraves disease for me or something else. I hope you have some good results soon. I know what its like not to be able to lose.
I have had hypothyroid and taken meds for 20 years. It's been adjusted over the years, but this time I'm hyper (0.036 TSH) and am struggling to lose weight! Last time I was taking too much med, I dropped weight like crazy. Why am I hanging on to this weight?? I should also mention that I feel terrible. Muscle pain, hyper-reflexes, muscles tightening/twitching. Very irritating. I'm waiting to here back from the doctor on how to titrate down.
You were hypo but now you are hyper? Is this due to meds? What caused your initial hypo condition? You were hyper before from too much meds and dropped weight easily? This weigth situation is so irritating. I can sit and practically feel myself swell. I'm wondering if there is something more going on.
I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's in 1988. During a stressful time in my life, I lost a lot of weight and the doctor determined my levothyroxine was too high and it was adjusted. At my yearly physical last week, I told the doctor I'd been feeling terrible, couldn't lose weight, and assumed (hoped) I would need to have my meds raised. I currently take 150 mcg. But no - they were too low and now my meds need to be lowered. Frustrating. I am eating 1200 calories a day, walking/running on average 45 minutes/5 days a week. Normally, I'd be able to drop 5 pounds no problem by doing this. This time - nothing. And my thyroid is supposedly working over time!
I was diagnosed with Graves and put on Carbimazole and gained 16 kgs prior to RAI in june 2008.
I gained the 16kgs in 4 week lol
Its a fallacy that hyper LOSE weight...that isnt always the case.
I was 55kgs , went up to 71kgs and have now dropped to 62.3kgs.
Keep your diet healthy, continue to excersise and hopefully get the right dose of medication and you will be fine.
