I had a goiter removed during a partial thyroidectomy.  I still have the left side of my thyroid.

So sorry you have to deal with this.

Here's a link that might help you:  http://www.thyroid.org/patients/patient_brochures/goiter.html

A goiter is the term for an overall enlarged thyroid.  There are several causes and one is a nodule.  So when you say, "...there are more than one…," I think you might be talking about more than one nodule.  These might be contributing to your thyroid enlargement - or goiter.

If you scroll down on the ‘What causes a goiter?’ section you’ll see a paragraph with a link to a page about nodules.

Back on the following page, you can enter search terms and get info on thyroid surgeries:  http://www.thyroid.org/search.php

Good luck.
