Changing from Lorazepam to Xanax

I was trying to wean off Lorazepam but it was very difficult so the doc swiched me to Xanax. I managed to reduce 0.75 mg Lorazepam in 4 weeks (Initially I was taking 2.5 for 4 months) and today I started with Xanax 0.25mg 3 times a day.  I used to take Xanax before for axiety, small dosage(0.25) when needed but my previous doctor said that Lorazepam was better. I wasn't for though.

Does anybody know of any side effects when changing from Lorazepam to Xanax?

thanks in advance

Thanks Stella. I am a little confused with the T3 hormone here. Since my hormon level is not stable yet, I talked to the doc to slow down with the withdrawl and swich to Xanax which I tolorated better before this Lorazepam which was given to me when I went to ER due to starting on Synthroid after a doc took me off it for a months (big mistake), This was because my TSH was very low 0.04. Forgot to mention that I had Graves in 1993 and treated with RAI, did fine for all these years until May when TSH went low.

Now my TSH is 1.3 and I am on Synthroid 75 mcg but the withdrawl is difficult. this morning after a day of taking Xanax 0.25 3 times a day, I experienced increased anxiety and sweating, so I think that the withdrawl process is still in place since the amount of Xanax is pretty small and hardly covers the reduced dosage of 1.75 mg Lorazepam that I was taking and suffering from withdrawl.

Thanks again

The side effects will range from severe to mild based off the T3 hormone you have directly going into the cells.

If your T3 hormone - only measured by getting the Free T3 thyroid lab done -  in blood work - is up in the 3/4 range of the reference range the withdrawal of any antidepressant is not as harsh as doing it when that hormone is not set correctly.
