I haven't had surgery (so far).  Right now, I'm fighting tooth and nail to keep my thyroid intact.  I'm not against surgery, but want a good reason for losing a body part.  So far, my drs haven't given me one.  Recently, there's been pain in the area of my thyroid nodule and I think it's getting bigger (it was 4.7cm at last measurement), so there may be surgery in my future after all.

The recovery time in my previous post was from reading various (I'm on 4 of them) thyroid message boards, as well as a lot of websites.

It really depends on how you feel and what you do.  You can start driving again as soon as you can turn your neck comfortably.  Shouldn't lift anything heavier than 10 lbs for about a month.  Other than that, let your body guide you.

I had my surgery on a Tuesday and went back to work on Monday.  I could drive by the weekend.  Everyone is different though.

Good Luck to you.
