There was a conversation here in 2006 where a doctor said it is OK to take synthroid (etc.) with coffee. Unfortunately, in 2008 a study refutes that claim. See:
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/18341376
which shows a substantially reduced rise of T4T4 test when the med is taken with coffee.
This discussion is related to Synthroid and other pills.
Hi - I recall that conversation (having joined MedHelp in October 06) and I do believe it's in our health pages. What many on our community mention is that if it's consitently taken with coffee then the med is adjusted according to the absorption levels. Not that it makes it right to take with coffee but if it's constent then the dosing will reflect the negativity of the coffee. That's what the community pretty much felt.
Thanks for bringing this up and feel free to post the study in our health pages!
Yeah I have a coffee, then take my thyroxin then make another coffee lol.
I think consistancy is the key....do what you've always done from the start if it is all working out.
I did notice one thing though........stress makes me hyperHyper-sal lol.
Okies..back to fixing the computer...
Umm....why do they make laptop screens small? lol
Deb --- stress makes ME hyper too, but not necessarily with the thyroid issues -- sometimes I wonder if I developed "adult onset" hyperactivity -------- Is there such a thing? Like "type 2 - adult onset diabetes"?
I rebuilt my computer Stella (puter tech since 1985 lol) or I would just go buy another.
Thank gawd I did that business for many years.
Although a simple thing like installing the right driver for a widescreen monitor had me stumped (brain fog) but I finally got it lol.
Computer is UP & RUNNING! Yayyyyy !!!
Barb...who knows lol ???
I've given up trying to 'analyse' everything that comes before me.
Though I have found the past 2 weeks that not eating as much, I have gone hyper a fraction and the damn thyroxin was working TOO WELL.
But got it all under control now.
Skipped 2 days and then back to normal dose.
This fixes my levels with being so drug sensitive.
This is the 2nd time this has happened since RAI (14 mths ago) so cant complain.
As for adult onset disease.......
Umm...I think its called ....OLD-TIMERS DISEASE (hehehe)
