I was on 25mg of Eltroxin for the past 5-6 years but last year it was notched up to 50mg because I stopped taking the pills (long story). I haven't had a blood test since March, so could my TSHPituitary and tsh Tsh have possibly dropped?
I don't know what your levels have been in the past. 'Normal' is not always cut and dry. What is normal TSH for one may not be for another.
Tests needed:
TSH
FT4
FT3
Why do you take Eltroxin? Have you ever been diagnosed with Hashimoto's? If you suspect a goiter or pressure/pain from your thyroid, then request the antibody blood tests:
TGab and Anti-TPO.
I got the pain in the back of the neck/base of skull last year. It was so bad, I felt like a bobble head doll with a head too heavy to support my neck. Very weird feeling. I do know now from a thyroid ultrasound that I have a goiter. I also now from my Anti-TPO test that the goiter was caused by Hashimoto's. I have not gotten the pain since starting my meds. Maybe you just need your medication adjusted, but if you experiment with the dosage yourself, then get the blood test, the doctor will not know how much dosage to give you if you're not on a consistent amount.
