I was diagnosed with Hyperthroidism early in pregnancy. After tests were ran I was officially diagnosed with GravesGraves disease Disease. I have been on and off PTU for the last year and a half. I have been to 2 different Endocrinologists. I was very happy with both doctors but had conflicting advice. The one who treated me while I was pregnant suggested that after I deliveryC-section Delivery presentations Infant care following delivery my daughter, to get RadioactiveRadioactive iodine uptake Iodine treatment. The other suggested I stay on PTU and see if it will get better with medication. I take 3 50mg 2x a day. At most I was taking 3 PTU pills 3 times a day... equaling to 9 pills a day! It seems like a ridiculous amount. My most recent blood draw reveals that my T4T4 test levels are Elevated (I am NOT surprised) and my TSHPituitary and tsh Tsh is 0. What does this mean for me? I'm confused and would like some advice. I'm very stressed out, concerned and sadDepression. I feel like I'm taking high doses for nothing, but can not do the Radioactive Iodine treatment because I don't have anyone to watch my toddler aged daughter. Please tell me if I could continue with just taking medication (although I hate it) or would I really have to get Radioactive Treatment? I have a upcoming Endocrin appt. I don't want to be bullied by my dr's into doing something that isn't necessary. I too have had experiences with doctors who had an attitude when asked to explain the lab results for thyroid levels. Thanks for your time!
