Also since Janurary I have had a lot of midnight awakenings with a racing pulse. I wore a holter and all turned out begign. The new endo seems to think I do not need a thyroid scan. In the past I had a goiter but at my visit she could not paplitate it,she feels that the thyroid is starting to shrink due to the disease.
My questions:
What tsh level should I be at?
Would you increase the levoxyll?
Is the racing pulse awakenings thyroid related?
My labs in August 06 were
TSH 8.18
Free T4 0.9
Anti-thyroglobuin 135.0
Thyroid peroxidase Auto Antibody 1300
One month on levoxyl is not long enough to judge your levels and levoxyl.
12.5 mcg equates to 125 mg., which is not all that low. Its not high but its not low either.
The level for you is where you feel your best, not where others feel their best or what you read here or anywhere else. We are not all alike and will not feel the same at the same levels.
Sometimes, in some cases, not all but some, being on thyroid medication might shrink the nodule. However it usually takes a suppressed level of TSH. Certainly not where your TSH 2.84.
Redo you Labs 8 weeks after you started the levoxyl. You might see a difference.
12.5mcgs is very low wich is equal to .0125 mgs. The smallest pill they make is 25mcgs last time i knew. So your breaking it in half i guess.I feel best with a tsh between 1 to 2.
