Hi,
during pregnancy TSH should be around 1 and FT3 and FT4 should be in the upper end of the reference range. TSH alone is not a good indicator because it can appear artificially low during pregnancy (due to interference of pregnancy hormones). FT3 and FT4 are more important than TSH and TSH alone should never be relied on for adjusting medication..
FT3 and FT4 should be tested monthly during pregnancy. It is normal to increase thyroid meds during pregnancy as the need for thyroid hormone increases dramatically during pregnancy.
Hope this helps.
I got your post and plan to ask for a free T3 & T4. I still don't understand the numbers though, or how my symptoms will change with different levels. I read an article suggested before, which just makes me more nervous about conception. I want to know all I can in order to make sure by OB/GYN is doing all he can to make a pregnancy go well.
Thanks for your response.
I had just posted my suggestions in response to your original post.
