Wellllllll for me it took my TSH #'s to get in better range for what is normal for me. After 2 yrs of TSH at 2.8 and now on synthroid after unrelated thyroid surgery, and TSH at 1.8 it is normal and off Miralax after 2 yrs of taking it!!!!  All my docs shook their heads and could do nothing but be amazed and agree that obviously for me it was subclinical hypothyroidism.  So if you have hypo w/o a doubt, then it most likely is all conected.

What's your TSH level?  and WELCOME!

The best natural way  is to take about 1000 mg of vitamin C per day for a couple of days.  To prevent the problem a daily dose of 250-500 mg usually works.

About two months ago my TSH was 56 and I was just tested and have not got the results yet.  I don't want to have to take stool softeners for the rest of my life.  After the birth of my fifth child I have hemorrhoids and have been to the doctor because of bleeding.  They said that I have to get the constipation under control.  easier said then done.  I have tried the high fiber diet which is very hard to get in in a day.  The stool softeners give me cramps.  This stinks.

For some immediate relief you can use a glycerin suppository.  That is the only thing that worked for me when I was in the midst of my hypohe//.  I now follow a high fiber diet and things seem to be getting better.  Like ChitChatNine though, mine gets worse as the TSH goes up.  I was doing great bowel wise when my TSH was .01. Now it's getting closer to 1.0 and I'm having issues again even when I'm eating enough fiber to choke a horse.  Just keep eating your fiber, add some Benefiber to your water, eat double fiber whole wheat bread, eat apples, take vitamin C and drink tons of water. All of that combined with a lower TSH should help things to get better soon. Until then.....go with the suppository! It's immediate and it provides much needed relief!

Welcome.  I got mine under control once my TSH levels came down.  My TSH started out at over 55 and now is down to 0.16 at last test.  I also make sure I eat plenty of fiber and drink lots of water.

Good luck.
