Outside of thyroid another thing that can cause that sensation is gastro reflux? Is all ok in that dept? It can cause esophagitis and the feeling you describe .. my son who has history of severe reflux, calls it a "furball" caught in his throat. I give him his prescribed reflux meds and it goes away. Not that I'm saying this is what you have by any means, but wanted to add it to the list along with that which you noted.
I went to the GI doc as per my family doc because of the same symptoms you are having. They did an upper GI on me and found that it was acid reflux. They took a biopsy routine and it came back reflux. They saw the tissue and it was inflammed. Belive it or not it could be reflux. Reflux has different symptoms for everybody. Priosac is over the counter now. It is to be used once a day for 14 days. Maybe your symptoms will then go away.
After reading your post I forgot that my daughter had inflammed vocal cords and bilateral vocal cord nodules that finally went away after a 6mo course of treatment with Prevacid .. after 2 yrs and speech therapy and so on and so forth the ENT took an off the wall approach and it WORKED~~~the inflammation went away and so did the nodules~!!! She was only 10yrs old at the time. GI issues run in my family .. 3 of my 4 children have them unfortunately ..
Did they say how big your nodule was or where it was located? Nodules *can* push on the esophagus, trachea, and nerves but they usually have to be either large to do that or situated very close to a structure.
I was reading my daughter's surgical notes the other day (don't ask, needed them for insurance) and it reminded me of something I'd blocked out: although one of my daughter's nodules was small(8mm) but was pressing on her jugular.
There is a pretty good explanation (with photos) of a goiter or nodule impacting surrounding structures:

You could also have an enlarged lymph node. It wouldn't hurt to have your endo do another ultrasound to see if the nodule has grown at all. Hashi's thyroids can get quite large too (my 16-year old daughter's lobe measured 10cm x 10cm and she was newly diagnosed with Hashi's).
C~
Good luck. I know it is an anoying feeling.
