by At The End of My Rope, Jun 10, 2007 12:00AM
I do not mean to sound stupid here, but I am new to this all so please be understanding.

The medicine the cytomel put me on is this a common drug and the dosage is it high 50mg.

One more thing it is normal for your legs to feel heavy.

After my TT by surgeon put me on Cytomel, 50mg daily.  I saw my Endo last week, nearly 3 weeks after TT, and he said I should keep taking the Cytomel but cut it in half and take one morning and evening so the affect would last longer.  He also said it wouldn't hurt to take another half later in the day if need be.

Thank you, Yes my doctor said he knew this dosage was going to be too low but can work up easier than work down.

How does Cytomel differ from generic or name brand Synthroid?  Just curious why some docs pic one thing over the other.

cytomel is T3 and synthroid is t4 Your liver is supposed to convert the t4 to t3 but it doesnt always do that..;I am on both and I think that is why I feel so good. everybody is different though.

I was told after my TT that I would be put on Cytomel (T3) if they found ThyCa and Synthroid (T4) if they did not.  The reason for this (as I understand it) is that T3 goes out of your system faster than T4 and your body needs to have a high TSH prior to RAI.

Thx for the great replies .. both make alot of sense!  They test my T3 ev 3rd test and still testing TSH monthly.

Venora .. I am so so happy you are feeling so great!!!!
