DAMAGE TO THE BODY

by KB1205, May 28, 2009 05:11AM
Does anyone know what damage is caused to the body by lack of treatment for hypothyroidism?
Just wondering because my bloods showed kidney damage, hypoglyceamia, my ESR was also low, and my leukocytes are higher than my neutrophils.
P.S a couple of months ago I developed a jiggling around my kidneys (non pitting edema), back pain and I was very nice and brown ... I was treated for a kidney infection even though I had no protein in my urine and had all these lovely tests. My thyroid is now euthyroid (normal) at 2.37, haven't had a test that low in 8 or 9 years.
Has anyone else had odd test results?
Oh yes and before I forget my FT4 is always around 17/18 even when the TSH changes ... any ideas there?

Hi and welcome!  I have mega experience with kidney stones and recurring UTI's but my thyroid has been consistent even before I was on synthroid after my surgery for nodules.  Although, I was subclinical hypo with symptoms around the 2.8 TSH that all went away when it came down to <2.0

Sorry about the kidney stuffs.  Make sure you go back for a reculture after you are off all antibiotics .. even if the first one was negative.   And bring in first morning urine .. that is a trick we've all learnedon the MSK Kidney community .. not a trick, but a better way for pesky bacteria to finally show up accurately on a culture!
