We all know how hard it is to find doctors who are good, or even adequate, at treating thyroid disorders. We are trying to compile a list of "patient recommended" doctors , so we can help those in need of treatment.
Specific traits we are looking for, in good thyroid doctors, include, but are not limited to:
1) Willing to listen to the patient and treat symptoms, not just labs
2) Willing to test adequately (FT3, FT4 (most important), TSH, antibodies, vitamin deficiencies, ultra sound etc), as needed.
3) Willing to adjust medications, if symptoms persist, even if lab results are "in range".
4) Does not treat according to TSH levels.
5) Willing to prescribe medications containing T3 (either dessicated or synthetic T3).
What we need:
1) Contact information: doctor's name, address, phone/fax numbers, e-mail (if able to be contacted electronically).
2) Doctor's specialty (since not all good thyroid doctors are endocrinologists, please indicate the type of doctor (endo, pcp, internist, ENT, naturopath etc).
3) Indicate whether or not a referral is required
While you're free to comment on this post, please do *NOT* post your doctor's contact information here.
gimel, who is one of our very knowledgeable, long standing members has agreed to compile the list, so you may send your information to him, via PM. If you don’t know how to do that, we’ll be glad to help you.
