Lack of concentration

then after my surgery I ended up on Synthroid and anything below TSH 1.8 ALL this disappears! They were amazed since my TSH was "normal" for yrs at 2.8 .. yep. normal they said. turned out to be subclinical hypothyroidism and proven that all these symptoms go away with 62.5 - 75mcgs of synthroid daily and a new TSH of about 1.3
Wait .. there is something wrong here...
I see you posted a TSH of 22 - is that a 22.00 - or a .22 ?
I suffer the same thing. I wake up in the morning, am fine for about an hour or so, then feel the body and brain slowly start to slip. On a good day I can drive to my local shops, but then wander around in a daze. Sometimes coming home is a scary process of mind fog, and non alertness. I can sleep in the afternoon for over 3 hours and still feel tired when I wake up! I feel like I am always sighing and then my eyes feel like lead weights. My chest feels heavy and that heart thing you mention, I get it too. Just today in the shower, I normally get too hot and my heart thumps hard to regulate my body temperature...not today, it was soooo difficult to feel it and it was soooo slow... I had to get out as I was worried it was going to stop! As soon as I moved to get out it went back to normal-ish! My resting rate is around 55 bpm at the moment, which is unheard of for me! I am normally at 75 or even 80 even when I am typing away like now!
I was like this for over 15 years! It is only recently I am the same again, due to falling Free T3 and rising TSH. Like you it is difficult to get treatment immediately.
The TSH numbers are useless with out the Free T3 numbers. If your Free T3 is low and your TSH high then regardless of the actual numbers, it means you are hypothyroid.
I am about to go away on a 9 week holiday and am terrified I will not have the mental clarity to figure out how to get the connecting plane or even REMEMBER to get to the boarding gate on time!
So Yes, I know how you feel..like death warmed over. BUT hopefully you can get treatment sooner! Ask them to put you on the cancellation list. If any one cancels you take their appointment, it may be as little warning as an hour but I think it is wiser!
Cheers and good luck!
Hello again
Tamra and super-sally 888, I have gone to my doctor but my appointment with the doctor will be no sooner than september 10th. however i had some medication from my old prescription and started to take it with the agreement of the doctor, so I am on t4 25mg and t3 too, but I have to start treatment so carefully cause I have heart problems and a defibrillator implanted to avoid sudden death. I thank you very much for your words and just wanted to know if other have felt like this. thanks again
I've never heard of TSH only being a 22. Your TSH levels clearly explains your fatigue. Please take the advice of the very experienced members on this forum and get to the doctor ASAP.
Tamra
Hi,
please see Goolarra and my response to your other post. You need to get treatment urgently.
Yes, this is how I felt when I had untreated hypothryoid. I would be ok for a few hours in the morning and then it was like my body was so heavy I could hardly move. It was horrible. I would just have to lie on the floor in my bathroom and somehow find the energy to move again. All I did was drag myself to work and sleep. I gained 40 plus lbs. Felt like deather warmed up. My TSH never even went higher than about 4.5 during this time. And yes, I also felt that if that was all there was to life it wasn't worth living.
Good news is that this will get much better with treatment.
Please go to your doctor now. TODAY, if possible. Failure to treat this is life threatening! This is severe hypothyroid! Do not look at other's numbers. Only look at your own and how you feel. Your TSH should be between 1 and 2 (likely). So you are 10 - 20 times above normal.
